چکیده
Abstract Hybrid composites were prepared from a PP homopolymer, talc and PVA fibers by twin-screw extrusion injection molding. Talc was added to improve stiffness, while the serve increase impact resistance. Mechanical properties characterized tensile testing, structure studied SEM optical microscopy. The results showed that has strong nucleating effect in used spite of fact grade contained agent inherently. also nucleated slightly, with trans-crystallization occurring around fibers. two components independent each other on lamella thickness, but crystallinity decreased increasing content hybrid composites. clearly crystalline changes considerably upon addition components, both thickness increasing. However, somewhat contradictorily, these mechanical is small. Model calculations have shown stiffness increases about 0.5 GPa due nucleation, moduli as large 7 are reached talc. Impact resistance completely or crystallinity; this property determined mainly local deformation processes initiated Dispersed direct additive determine studied, role secondary importance.

Hybrid Composites Based on Carbon Fiber/Carbon Nanofilament Reinforcement
Carbon nanofilament and nanotubes (CNTs) have shown promise for enhancing the mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced composites (FRPs) and imparting multi-functionalities to them. While direct mixing of carbon nanofilaments with the polymer matrix in FRPs has several drawbacks, a high volume of uniform nanofilaments can be directly grown on fiber surfaces prior to composite fabrication. This...

متن کاملNanoparticle-Liquid Crystalline Elastomer Composites
Liquid crystalline elastomers (LCEs) exhibit a number of remarkable physical effects, including a uniquely high-stroke reversible mechanical actuation triggered by external stimuli. Fundamentally, all such stimuli affect the degree of liquid crystalline order in the polymer chains cross-linked into an elastic network. Heat and the resulting thermal actuation act by promoting entropic disorder, ...
متن کاملDesign of stiff, tough and stretchy hydrogel composites via nanoscale hybrid crosslinking and macroscale fiber reinforcement.
Hydrogels' applications are usually limited by their weak mechanical properties. Despite recent great progress in developing tough hydrogels, it is still challenging to achieve high values of , toughness and modulus all together in synthetic hydrogels. In this paper, we designed highly stretchable, tough, yet stiff hydrogel composites via a combination of nanoscale hybrid crosslinking and macro...
